While I do not usually care about Facebook they caught my attention lately. Facebook has been buying over 10+ Million dollars worth of domain names in recent times and building an incredible domain portfolio.
Some of the domain names acquired and owned by Facebook include: FB.com, I.org , Internet.org, Messenger.com, Parse.com, NewsFeed.com, GameRoom.com, React.com, F8.com, Groups.com etc!!! MILLIONS and MILLIONS of $$$ worth of amazing names! According to my research tool Facebook owns over 3500 .COM names, and that doesn’t include names under privacy etc.
Workplace.com is a recent name acquired by Facebook however the price paid for such amazing brand is undisclosed. I can only suspect that it was an upper SIX figure sale.
While I am not fond of Facebook, I can sure appreciate and recognize the fact that they want to EXPAND and dominate.
In 2018 I am investing heavily in .com names. As a matter of fact I spent MORE MONEY in 2018 investing in .COM names then I have spent TOTAL in the past 10 years+.
Facebook sets a perfect example of what companies should do in order the get ATTENTION and get KNOWN.
If you don’t get attention today and spend the money to expand I think companies and individuals have 0 chances to survive long term or to make a difference in the marketplace. Domains are the perfect vehicle to do so, and SOOO CHEAP still in 2018.
